Denpasar (Atnews) - CGI Bali organised first ever ‘India Day’ at Udayana University, the largest & most prestigious in Bali. Embellished with ‘New India’ presentation by CG Dr Shashank Vikram, cultural programmes and various activities, the event introduced about 200 students to Indian heritage.
Held at the Nusantara Hall, Udayana University Campus in Denpasar on Wednesday (18/12), the programme was organised in collaboration with the Office of International Affairs (KUI) with the theme “India’s Cultural Tapestry: Draped in Tradition, Colored in Art.”
The event was officially opened by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information, Prof. Dr. dr. I Putu Gede Adiatmika, M.Kes., and the Consul General of India, Dr. Shashank Vikram, staff from the Indian Consulate, and hundreds of participants from Udayana University (Unud) as well as other universities in Bali.
In his opening remarks, the Vice Rector expressed his appreciation for entrusting Unud to host India Day 2024. He hoped the participants would gain valuable insights into Indian culture and education. He also expressed optimism that India Day could become an annual event at Unud.
The Indian Consul General, as a keynote speaker, delivered a presentation titled “New India,” providing an overview of the country’s culture, economy, and development. He also introduced the ICCR Scholarship, which will be open for the academic year 2025-2026.
This scholarship program is available for undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels and includes various scholarships such as the Atal Bihari Vajpayee General Scholarship, Lata Mangeshkar Dance & Music Scholarship, and AYUSH Scholarship.
To deepen understanding of India’s diverse culture, several workshops were held, including a Saree draping session with Ms. Puja Kumari, Henna art with Ms. Neha, Rangoli creation with Ms. Tanya Kumari, and a Kathak dance practice with Ms. Pooja Bhatnagar.
At the end of the event, representatives from each workshop presented their work and shared their impressions of the event.
The Coordinator of KUI, Senja Pratiwi, Ph.D., expressed her gratitude and deep appreciation to the Consulate General of India for organizing such an engaging event at Unud. She also hoped this event could be held again in the coming years.(z/001)
