Denpasar (Atnews) - The Global Hindu Business Conference (GHBC) 2026 concluded with the adoption of the Bali Unity Declaration on Dharmanomics, an international declaration affirming a shared commitment to building a global economic system founded upon the values of Dharma in order to achieve inclusive, equitable, and sustainable prosperity.

The declaration was formally adopted during the closing session of the conference at Universitas Hindu Indonesia (UNHI), Denpasar, on Sunday (12 July), marking the beginning of a global Dharmanomics movement that integrates economic growth with ethics, spirituality, cultural preservation, and environmental sustainability.

Held over three days from 10–12 July 2026, GHBC 2026 was convened under the theme “Towards Dharmanomics: Designing the Future”. The conference brought together more than 200 delegates from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, India, Nepal, the United Arab Emirates, and Mauritius.

Participants included entrepreneurs, academics, community organisations, media representatives, Hindu scholars, professionals, community leaders, and representatives of various institutions committed to advancing an economic model grounded in the principles of Dharma.

Throughout the conference, delegates participated in international seminars, business forums, business matching sessions, exhibitions, and strategic discussions on shaping a more equitable and sustainable economic future.

The declaration, entitled “One Dharma One Humanity Shared Prosperity”, emerged from the shared conviction that genuine prosperity cannot be measured solely by economic growth or the accumulation of wealth, but must instead be guided by Dharma as a foundation for morality, ethical conduct, and social responsibility.

Accordingly, the delegates endorsed a series of commitments intended to serve as a practical framework for governments, businesses, universities, and the international community in creating a future that balances economic prosperity with social harmony, cultural dignity, and environmental stewardship.

The first commitment focuses on advancing Dharmanomics globally. Delegates agreed to introduce, promote, educate, and disseminate the principles of Dharmanomics among communities, educational institutions, businesses, social organisations, and governments around the world.

The concept is regarded as a practical framework capable of addressing twenty-first century development challenges through an ethical, inclusive, and sustainable approach.

Under this vision, economic success should no longer be measured solely by gross domestic product, but also by improvements in human well-being, equitable prosperity, and a harmonious relationship between humanity and nature.

The second commitment emphasises the importance of building a global movement of action. Delegates recognised that Dharmanomics must not remain merely an academic theory or philosophical concept.

Instead, they pledged to unite their knowledge, experience, professional networks, and resources to translate its principles into practical initiatives.

Through cross-border and cross-sector collaboration, this movement aims to generate meaningful social, economic, cultural, and environmental benefits for communities across the globe.

The third commitment is to strengthen cooperation and mutual respect. The declaration affirms that an economy guided by Dharma can only flourish through trust, mutual respect, open dialogue, and equitable partnerships.

Delegates also called upon more organisations, leaders, entrepreneurs, academics, educational institutions, communities, and young people worldwide to join the Dharmanomics movement.

Such collaboration is expected to establish a strong international network capable of addressing shared economic, social, and environmental challenges.

The fourth commitment is reflected in the launch of the Bali Dharmanomics Pilot Project, which will position Bali as a living laboratory for the practical application of Dharmanomics.

Bali was selected because of its strong social, cultural, and spiritual foundations, including its Desa Adat (customary villages), the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, and its enduring tradition of mutual cooperation.

The initiative will involve government, businesses, universities, local communities, and particularly Desa Adat in developing villages that are self-reliant, resilient, progressive, and prosperous while preserving their unique cultural and spiritual heritage. The project is expected to serve as a model that can be replicated in other regions and countries.

The fifth commitment is to create shared prosperity for all. The declaration stresses that future economic systems must place Dharma above profit alone. Delegates therefore committed themselves to promoting ethical entrepreneurship, strengthening local economies, empowering communities, protecting the natural environment, and ensuring that the benefits of development are shared fairly across society, including future generations.

This commitment places collective well-being at the heart of economic development rather than the concentration of wealth among a privileged few.

The sixth commitment is to inspire future generations. Delegates agreed that the transition towards a Dharma-based economy can only be sustained through continued investment in education, leadership development, research, innovation, and community empowerment.

Universities, research institutions, civil society organisations, and businesses are encouraged to cultivate future leaders who embody wisdom, compassion, integrity, responsibility, and a spirit of service.

In this way, the principles of Dharmanomics will evolve beyond policy into a living culture passed from one generation to the next.

Beyond these six principal commitments, the declaration also reaffirms a collective determination to build a future in which economic progress, social harmony, cultural dignity, spiritual values, and environmental sustainability develop together as inseparable elements of human advancement.

Delegates expressed the belief that development focused exclusively on economic growth, while neglecting social balance and environmental protection, inevitably leads to inequality and humanitarian crises.

Conversely, development guided by Dharma offers the prospect of creating a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world for all living beings.

In closing, participants expressed their confidence that the strength of global collaboration will be essential to achieving these aspirations. Guided by the spirit of “From Unity to Action, From Dharma to Shared Prosperity”, the Bali Unity Declaration on Dharmanomics is expected to become the foundation of an international movement inspiring governments, businesses, academics, civil society organisations, and communities worldwide to develop a more humane, equitable, and sustainable economic system.

The declaration also positions Bali as a global centre for the development and practical implementation of Dharmanomics, while reinforcing Indonesia’s role as one of the pioneers of a new development paradigm that harmonises economic progress with the enduring values of humanity and Dharma.
